In the small city of Lamar, Colorado, the life of 30-year-old Armando Stephen Hernandez Jr. was tragically cut short. On the evening of February 17, 2025, police were called to a residence at 906 S. 8th Street, where they discovered a grim scene. Inside, Hernandez had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. He was born in Lamar on September 24, 1994, to Josephine Tirado and Armando Hernandez.
At the scene of the shooting, officers found another individual, Eric Flores.
Following an initial investigation into the incident, Flores was taken into custody and has since been charged with manslaughter in connection with Hernandez's death. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
Armando was a father to two daughters, Scarlett Hernandez and Leillani Torres. His passing has left a void in the lives of his family, which includes his mother, Josie Tirado, his brothers, Elijah Hainer, Oryan Hainer, and Darius Camacho, and his maternal grandparents, Refugio “Cuco” and Matilda Tirado. The family has announced memorial services to honor his life, and a memorial fund has been established in his name.
