On a fall evening, October 20, 2000, 86-year-old Hazel Lydia Chamblen was last seen in Winston, Oregon. A well-known community volunteer from Tenmile, she had driven her grandson to Douglas High School around 7:00 p.m. in her red 1990 Toyota Corolla station wagon. This seemingly routine act of grandmotherly care would be the last time she was ever seen by her loved ones.
