In the early morning hours of Thursday, April 17, 2025, the quiet of a Yuma, Arizona neighborhood was shattered by a domestic dispute that ended in tragedy. Anthony Morgan Herrera, a 38-year-old male, was fatally shot at a residence in the 11300 block of E. Del Verde Drive. The Yuma County Sheriff's Office received a call about the disturbance at approximately 3:36 a.m.
and while deputies were on their way, they were notified that shots had possibly been fired within the home.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Herrera unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. They immediately began life-saving measures until the Rural Metro Fire Department arrived and took over medical aid. Despite their efforts, Herrera succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Yuma County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Bureau has taken over the case and is conducting a homicide investigation. At this time, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released details regarding any suspects or arrests. Law enforcement officials are actively seeking information from the public and have asked anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.
