Edna Louise Sullivan, a 16-year-old Caucasian female, tragically lost her life on August 6, 1966, in Johnson County, Texas. She was abducted and murdered by Kenneth Allen McDuff, a notorious serial killer. Sullivan was with her friends, Robert Hugh Brand and Johnny Marcus Dunnam when McDuff and his accomplice, Roy Dale Green, forced them into the trunk of their car at a baseball field in Everman, Texas.
McDuff later took Sullivan out of the trunk and subjected her to multiple assaults before ultimately killing her by choking her with a broomstick. Her body was discarded, and her friends were shot and killed. The following day, Green turned himself in, leading to McDuff’s arrest. McDuff was sentenced to death for his crimes, while Green served eleven years in prison. However, due to changes in sentencing laws, McDuff’s death sentence was commuted to life, and he was eventually paroled in 1989.
Following his release, McDuff continued his violent spree, murdering multiple women before being apprehended again in 1992. He was sentenced to death once more and was executed by lethal injection on November 17, 1998. Sullivan’s murder remains one of the most infamous cases linked to McDuff, highlighting the failures of the parole system that allowed a convicted murderer to kill again.
