Belinda Jo Stark, a 30-year-old woman from Fall River Mills, California, was tragically murdered on June 26, 1987. Her death was part of a series of killings committed by Robert Edward Maury, a convicted serial killer known for his disturbing pattern of reporting his own crimes to authorities. Maury, who was sentenced to death in 1989, was responsible for the murders of Stark, Averill Weeden, and Dawn Berryhill. His modus operandi involved strangling his victims with a bootlace, a method he used in Stark's case as well.
