Investigators later linked her murder to Jerry Marcus, a suspected serial killer who operated across multiple states, including Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. Marcus, who was born in 1951, was known for targeting women and was suspected of using methods such as strangulation and asphyxiation in addition to drowning.
