On December 17, 1979, 62-year-old Emma Truitt Brewer was found dead in her apartment in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was discovered by her granddaughter, who found her body on the floor. Emma had been strangled to death using hosiery and an electrical cord, and her hands were bound behind her back. The front door of the apartment was left ajar, suggesting that her attacker may have left in a hurry. Despite a police investigation, her murder remains unsolved to this day.
