Diana Richardson, a 47-year-old Caucasian woman originally from California, was last seen on October 11, 1995, in the vicinity of Chapin Street in St. Augustine, Florida. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing blue jeans, a light-colored shirt, and white sneakers. She had distinctive features resulting from a prior accident, including a plastic replacement for her left cheekbone, a dental bridge across her front teeth, a scar on her left cheek, and another on her abdomen.
Richardson was known to be involved in prostitution and struggled with substance abuse. Despite her circumstances, it was uncharacteristic for her to vanish without any communication with friends or family.
On October 20, 1995, Richardson was reported missing by her son. The investigation into her disappearance remained unresolved until 1999 when William Darrell Lindsey Sr., a convicted serial killer, pleaded guilty to her murder. Lindsey, also known as 'Crazy Bill,' was responsible for the deaths of multiple women between 1983 and 1996, primarily targeting individuals involved in prostitution and drug use. During his confession, Lindsey led authorities to a three-acre, alligator-infested pit near Murray Middle School in St. Augustine, claiming he had disposed of Richardson's body there. Despite extensive searches, her remains were never recovered.
Lindsey's criminal activities spanned over a decade, with victims including Lisa Foley, Anita McQuaig Stevens, Constance Marie Terrell, Lashawna Streeter, Donetha Snead-Haile, Cheryl Denise Lucas, and Lucy Arnett Raymer. His methods of murder varied, including strangulation, bludgeoning, and shooting. In 1999, as part of a plea deal, Lindsey pleaded guilty to six counts of second-degree murder, including the murder of Diana Richardson, and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He died of cancer in 2001 while incarcerated at the Marion Correctional Institute in Ocala, Florida.
