After her car breaks down off of I-80, a young college student is found dead days later Tammy Jo Zywicki was a 21-year-old woman, identified by the FBI as White, who set out on the afternoon of August 23, 1992, driving from Evanston, Illinois toward Grinnell College in Iowa, expecting to arrive that evening. Not long after she left, her trip unraveled on a busy ribbon of interstate: witnesses later placed her beside her disabled car near mile marker 83 on Interstate 80 in central Illinois, where she appeared stranded and exposed to whoever happened to pass by.
