Leola Douglas, a 27-year-old woman, was tragically murdered on May 20, 1987. She was killed by her boyfriend, Anthony Kirkland, after she refused to have sex with him. Kirkland raped and murdered her before setting her body on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Following the crime, Kirkland was convicted of voluntary manslaughter rather than murder. He was sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison but ultimately served only 16 years before being released on parole in 2004. His release w ...
