John Urbain Vallandry, a 20-year-old man, was found dead on July 10, 1974, with a fatal bullet wound to his head on the side of State Road 581. At the time of his death, he had been driving his girlfriend's car, which was later discovered abandoned at Gene's Lobster House in Madeira Beach. Both Vallandry and his girlfriend were known to be involved in marijuana trafficking.
