Stephen Michael Mason, a 52-year-old Caucasian male, was a man at home in the dense wilderness of Washington's Olympic National Forest. An experienced outdoorsman, he was well-acquainted with the trails and secrets of the woods near Sequim. In June of 2006, he and his wife, Berwyn, were camping at the Dungeness Forks Campground, a familiar haunt for him.
