Ruth Goldsmith, a 70-year-old woman, was tragically murdered on August 18, 1993, in Hernando County, Florida. Her death was part of a series of killings committed by Edwin Bernard Kaprat III, a serial killer known as "The Granny Killer." Kaprat targeted elderly women, often beating them before setting their homes on fire. Goldsmith was one of his victims, along with Sophia Garrity, Lydia Ridell, and Lorraine Dawe, all of whom were elderly widows.
