On November 15, 1978, Dora D. Wallace, a 55-year-old African-American woman, was brutally murdered in her home in Belleville, Illinois. Her husband, Michael Wallace, aged 67, was also killed in the same attack. The assailant, Andre Vernell Jones, decapitated Michael and stabbed Dora to death before setting their house on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.
