On September 28, 1946, Annie Wiseberg, a 76-year-old white woman, was brutally murdered in her home in Aiken County, South Carolina. The assailant, Monroe Hickson, a 38-year-old Black man, stabbed and bludgeoned her to death with a piece of firewood. Following the attack, he stole five dollars from her residence.
