On November 22, 1997, Janice Wessinger, a 47-year-old mother and healthcare worker, was found brutally murdered near her home in rural Aiken County, South Carolina. After Janice was reported missing by her daughter, a search was initiated. Her body was discovered the following morning in a wooded area less than a mile from her house. She had been raped and stabbed to death. Authorities believe she was attacked after going for a walk near her home.
