In a heart-wrenching act of domestic violence that stunned the community of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, four-year-old Kaleigh Green, a young female, tragically lost her life on September 21, 2016. The devastating event unfolded inside her family's home, where she and her five-year-old sister, Koi Green, were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning. Their father, Gregory Green, was identified as the perpetrator of this horrific crime.
The tragedy extended beyond the two youngest children.
Green also murdered his two stepchildren in the home. Chadney Allen, 19, and Kara Allen, 17, were shot and killed in the basement. The children's mother, Faith Harris-Green, was subjected to a brutal attack; she was bound, slashed with a box cutter, and shot in the foot. She was forced to witness the murder of her two older children before being left for dead. Miraculously, she survived the ordeal.
Following the murders, Gregory Green himself contacted the police and confessed to the killings. When officers arrived at the home, they found him waiting on the porch and took him into custody without incident. Inside, they discovered the tragic scene. The investigation revealed that Green had used a plastic tube connected to a car's muffler to poison his youngest daughters. This was not Green's first violent crime; he had a prior conviction for the 1991 murder of his first wife, who was pregnant at the time. He had served 16 years in prison for that crime and had been paroled in 2008.
Gregory Green was charged with multiple counts, including first-degree murder, torture, and assault with intent to do great bodily harm. In February 2017, he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, as well as torture and assault. As a result of his guilty plea, he was sentenced to a term of 47 to 102 years in prison, ensuring he would likely spend the remainder of his life incarcerated.
