Lanette Deyon White, a 25-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on September 25, 1998, in Ontario, California. Her death was part of a series of murders committed by Wayne Adam Ford, a long-haul truck driver who later confessed to killing four women between 1997 and 1998. Ford targeted women along his trucking routes, and his crimes were marked by extreme violence and mutilation.
Lanette's body was discovered in an irrigation canal near Lodi, California, after being dumped there by Ford.
Ford's arrest came after he voluntarily turned himself in to authorities on November 3, 1998. Accompanied by his brother, he walked into the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department carrying a severed woman's breast in a Ziploc bag as evidence of his crimes. He confessed to the murders, including Lanette's, and provided detailed accounts of his actions. Ford's hatred for women, which reportedly intensified following the end of his marriage, was cited as a driving factor behind his crime spree.
