William H. James, a 73-year-old white male and retired war veteran residing in Jacksonville, Florida, died on April 6, 1988. His death, initially presumed to be from natural causes, was later revealed to be a homicide. James was one of several elderly patients at the New Life Acres nursing home in Melrose, Florida, who were victims of a serial killer operating within the facility.
