On July 6, 1999, Jennifer Louise Still, a 20-year-old white female from Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, was found brutally murdered in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend. Her body was discovered by her boyfriend, Kevin, upon returning home from work. Jennifer had been stabbed 15 times in the abdomen, and her throat had been slashed. The crime scene showed no signs of forced entry, suggesting that she knew her attacker.
A small drop of blood found in the bathroom sink, believed to belong to the killer, was collected for DNA analysis.
The initial investigation focused on those close to Jennifer, including her boyfriend, who was quickly ruled out as a suspect. Attention then turned to her circle of friends, many of whom shared an interest in Dungeons & Dragons. Among them was John Charles Eichinger, a white male in his late 20s, known as "Acme John" due to his job at a local market. Eichinger claimed to have been in New Jersey at the time of the murder and suggested that other friends might have information. Despite these leads, the case went cold as no matches were found for the DNA evidence.
In 2005, a similar triple homicide occurred in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, involving Heather Greaves, her sister Lisa, and Heather's daughter Avery. Eichinger was seen leaving the scene with a bandaged hand and was subsequently arrested. During questioning, he confessed to the 2005 murders and, unprompted, admitted to killing Jennifer Still in 1999 after she rejected his romantic advances. Eichinger revealed that he had used the same knife in both crimes and had kept it, along with the clothes he wore during Jennifer's murder, as macabre souvenirs.
Eichinger was charged with four counts of first-degree murder. He waived his right to a jury trial and was found guilty on all counts. For the murder of Jennifer Still, he received a life sentence without the possibility of parole. For the 2005 murders, he was sentenced to death. Eichinger remains incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution – Phoenix in Pennsylvania.
