LeRoy Sinn, a 71-year-old male, passed away on January 21, 1996, while a patient at the Hunterdon Medical Center. A respected patent attorney and an active member of the Gardeners of Somerset Valley, he had even used his legal expertise to help the club establish a scholarship fund. His death, however, was not from natural causes but was the result of a malicious act.
The person responsible for his death was Charles Cullen, a nurse at the medical center. Cullen's actions were not limited to a single victim; he was later identified as a serial murderer who targeted patients under his care.
An investigation into a series of suspicious deaths at various medical facilities ultimately led to Cullen's arrest. He confessed to murdering numerous patients throughout his nursing career in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Cullen was subsequently convicted for the 22 murders he admitted to in New Jersey, including that of LeRoy Sinn, and was sentenced to life in prison.
