Stephanie Lynn Douglas, a 25-year-old Caucasian female, was last seen on the night of November 27, 1990, in McMinnville, Oregon. That evening, she put her three children and her niece to bed around 10:30 p.m. while her husband, Stan Douglas, was at work. Sometime during the night, Stephanie taped a note to a neighbor's door that read, 'Please check in on my kids. I had an emergency.' She has not been heard from since.
Stan Douglas reported his wife missing the following morning.
He informed the police that he discovered her car in the parking lot of a department store in McMinnville. Notably, while other cars in the lot were covered with ice, Stephanie's car was not, suggesting it had been parked there more recently.
Approximately two weeks after Stephanie's disappearance, her best friend, June Cross, also went missing from Tacoma, Washington. On January 26, 1991, a McMinnville officer discovered June's body near a campsite in rural Yamhill County, Oregon, an area associated with Harold Stookey. Stookey was subsequently convicted of June's murder. Authorities believe that Stookey may have convinced Stephanie to leave her home on the night she disappeared, possibly under the pretense of retrieving a cache of drugs in the woods. However, Stookey refused to take a polygraph test regarding Stephanie's case and denied any involvement in both women's disappearances.
As of now, Stephanie Lynn Douglas remains missing, and no arrests have been made in connection with her disappearance. The case remains unsolved, leaving her family and friends without closure.
