Brenda Erving, a 41-year-old African-American woman, was found dead on October 15, 2004, in rural Peoria County, Illinois. Her body was discovered facedown on a muddy gravel road, nude except for a single sock. The cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation. Brenda was one of the victims of Larry Dean Bright, a serial killer who targeted African-American women in Peoria and Tazewell Counties, Illinois, between July 2003 and late 2004.
