In the spring of 1985, a grim discovery in a New York City apartment marked the beginning of a tragic story. Lorraine Marshall, a 28-year-old African American woman, was found brutally murdered, having suffered multiple stab wounds. The horror of this event was compounded weeks later when the body of her young son, 6-year-old James Jose Marshall, was found. The young boy had been strangled.
