In the late 1980s, Patricia Vann Taylor Allanson, a white female born in 1937, sought employment as a caregiver under the alias Pat Taylor after serving time in prison for previous crimes. She and her daughter, Debbie, a registered nurse, began working for James Crist Sr., an 88-year-old white male, and his wife, Elizabeth 'Betty' Crist, in Atlanta, Georgia. Patricia posed as a registered nurse, despite lacking proper credentials.
