On August 6, 1966, 15-year-old Marcus Dunnam was visiting his cousin, Robert Brand, in Alvarado, Texas. Marcus, who enjoyed playing the drums, had been visiting his grandmother in Fort Worth. That evening, Marcus and Robert drove to Everman to visit Robert's girlfriend, Louise Sullivan. Louise was a popular student at Everman High School and volunteered at her church's daycare center.
