Sergeant Ronald D. Slockett, aged 31, was a dedicated officer with the Sugar Land Police Department in Texas. On the night of July 4, 1987, he was fatally shot while conducting a routine traffic stop. As he exited his patrol car, the suspects in the vehicle opened fire, striking him in the chest.
