Sergeant Joseph Daniel Bock, aged 40, was a dedicated officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department in Texas. On September 9, 1987, while attempting to arrest a speeding suspect near the Botanical Gardens, Sergeant Bock was tragically shot and killed. The suspect, who had an outstanding warrant and was on parole, managed to disarm Sergeant Bock and fired four shots, fatally wounding him. The suspect then fled the scene but was later apprehended.
