Patrol Deputy Wilburn Junior Agy, aged 45, was shot and killed on April 5, 1995, while moonlighting as a security officer at a shopping center near Fondren Road and Sanford Road in southwest Houston, Texas. Deputy Agy, who served with the Liberty County Sheriff's Department for nine years, was confronted by two masked gunmen who entered a video store at the shopping center. As he turned to confront the suspects, one of them pushed him to the ground and shot him with a .45 caliber handgun. The suspects, described as black males wearing black masks, fled the scene on foot and have never been identified.
Despite extensive investigations and efforts to solve the case, the suspects remain at large. The Texas Department of Public Safety has offered a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the resolution of the case, with additional rewards from Crime Stoppers of Houston and The 100 Club of Houston. The investigation remains open, and authorities continue to seek justice for Deputy Agy's tragic death.
Deputy Agy was survived by his wife and two daughters, who have continued to honor his memory and service to the community. His death is remembered by fellow officers and the community as a significant loss, and efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice persist.
