On May 11, 2004, in Abilene, Texas, 31-year-old Maria Apis, a Hispanic female, was tragically shot and killed by her husband, 45-year-old Max Apis. Following the shooting, Max Apis took his own life, resulting in a murder-suicide. This incident was reported by the Texas Council on Family Violence, which tracks fatalities resulting from intimate partner violence in the state.
