Mark Alan Wilson, a 52-year-old white male, died on February 24, 2005, in Tyler, Texas. Wilson was a Navy veteran and a resident of downtown Tyler. On the day of his death, Wilson heard gunfire erupting outside the Smith County Courthouse. He armed himself with a Colt .45 handgun and rushed to the scene to intervene.
