On May 8, 2009, 27-year-old Byron Blassingame was killed in an ambush-style shooting in downtown St. Louis. Byron, along with two companions, had just left a Yo Gotti concert when they stopped at a traffic light near Market and 18th Streets. Another vehicle approached and opened fire on their car.
