On November 5, 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Juanita Lee Warman, aged 55, was tragically killed in the Fort Hood shooting incident. Warman, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a native of Pittsburgh, had been at Fort Hood for only 24 hours to process for deployment to Iraq. She was highly respected for her expertise in treating post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Warman had served in the Army for 25 years, both on active duty and in the reserves.
