Monique Powell, a 26-year-old woman from La Marque, Texas, tragically died on June 15, 2010, from a gunshot wound. The incident occurred during a domestic disturbance in her apartment, shared with Kenneth Loftis, 24. According to police reports, a struggle ensued over a handgun, and Powell was shot in the chest. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. The Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death a homicide.
