Bobby Gerald Bennett, a 52-year-old African American man from Dallas, Texas, tragically died on October 14, 2013. Bennett, who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, was shot by Officer Cardan Spencer of the Dallas Police Department. The incident occurred after Bennett's mother called 911, reporting that her son was violent and had a knife.
