On January 19, 2014, Kenny Perez, a 30-year-old Hispanic male, was fatally shot at Taqueria El Taco Regio in Arcola, Texas. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. when Perez and his father got into an altercation with four other men at the restaurant. During the confrontation, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking Perez and his father. Perez was fatally wounded, while his father was shot in the stomach and taken to a nearby hospital.
A woman sitting at a nearby table was also injured in the foot but did not require hospital treatment.
Authorities identified a person of interest in the shooting, described as a Hispanic male, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing red pants and a blue shirt with a prominent logo, closely cropped hair, and a bead necklace. Another suspect was slightly taller, with a bigger build, wearing a blue synthetic jacket and sunglasses on top of his head. Two other suspects were also described, one with a crew cut hairstyle and the other wearing a plaid shirt and baseball cap.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made, and the suspects remain at large. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office has urged anyone with information to come forward and has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. The case remains open, and authorities continue to search for the individuals involved in the deadly shooting.
