Ammy Soumphonphakdy, a 50-year-old Laotian woman, tragically lost her life on April 7, 2014, in Dallas, TX. She was killed execution-style in her home along with her 18-year-old daughter, Debbie Thammavongsa. The incident occurred at their residence on Western Park Drive, where both victims were shot in the head. A third unidentified male victim was also shot but survived.
The investigation initially identified two suspects, both in their 20s, who were seen arguing with Soumphonphakdy
before fleeing the scene in a red Dodge Challenger. Despite extensive efforts, the case went cold due to a lack of evidence. However, in 2018, friends of the family urged police to reopen the case, leading to a breakthrough. Homicide Detective John Valdez revisited the evidence and identified Christopher Joseph Gonzalez as the suspect. Gonzalez was arrested on October 2, 2020, by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force and is currently facing capital murder charges.
