According to reports, Bettis was involved in a fatal shooting incident that occurred in the 600 block of South Stewart Street in Azle. The incident began as an argument between two men, which escalated when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Bettis multiple times. Bettis was pronounced dead at the scene.
