On October 25, 2016, 22-year-old Alec Pedro Puente, a male from Azle, Texas, was fatally shot during an altercation at Hilltop RV Park in Tarrant County around 2:00 a.m. The confrontation led to Puente being shot in the stomach. Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene in a black Honda Accord.
Authorities identified 24-year-old Tony Novello as the primary suspect in the shooting death of Alec Puente.
Investigators tracked the black Honda Accord to an apartment complex in west Fort Worth. Deputies had been surveilling Novello from a vacant unit within the complex. At approximately 11:30 p.m. on October 26, 2016, as officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant, Novello tried to escape in a vehicle. Feeling threatened, at least one officer discharged their firearm, striking Novello in the arm. He was subsequently apprehended and transported to JP Smith Hospital for treatment, where he was placed under heavy guard.
The Tarrant County Sheriff's Department reported that during the arrest attempt, Novello attempted to flee, leading to the shooting. A deputy sustained a foot injury during the incident, believed to have been caused by Novello running over the deputy's foot with his car. Following his medical treatment, Novello was expected to be transferred to the Tarrant County Jail to face charges related to the death of Alec Puente.
Alec Pedro Puente's obituary indicates that he passed away on October 25, 2016, and that services were held at Marty Leonard Chapel in Fort Worth. He is survived by his mother.
