Arlis Edward Wooten, a 68-year-old white male and World War II Navy veteran, was fatally shot on July 29, 1993, in Azle, Texas. He was a grocery store manager and a resident of Azle. His death was the result of an argument with his son, Charles Wooten, who was a convicted serial killer. Charles Wooten had been paroled in May 1992, largely due to his father's efforts, but the relationship between them deteriorated, leading to the fatal confrontation.
