On March 22, 2016, at approximately 1:27 a.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting call at the Highland Road Village Apartments located at 4366 Wyoming #124 in Dallas. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Casey Breedlove, a 33-year-old Black male, was found deceased in a vehicle, while Brent Rawls, a 35-year-old Black male, was located nearby and transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Witness statements led detectives to an apartment connected to these murders, where illegal narcotics were confiscated.
Approximately a week later, on March 29, 2016, at about 2:20 a.m., Isaiah Scott was standing in front of the Dream Food Store located at 3501 South Lancaster Road. A silver Jaguar approached with two unknown suspects inside. A Black male suspect exited the vehicle and exchanged words with Mr. Scott before retrieving a handgun from the car. A struggle ensued between Mr. Scott and the suspect over the weapon. During the altercation, a Black female and a Black male assisted the suspect by assaulting Mr. Scott, enabling the suspect to gain control of the gun and begin shooting. In the process, he struck Mr. Scott, security guard Glen Dancer, and accomplice Zachaeus Love, a 21-year-old Black male. All three were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries.
Through the investigation, detectives connected the same suspect to both incidents. Based on witness accounts, Jacorean Linwood, a 19-year-old Black male, was identified as the individual responsible for the capital murders of Casey Breedlove and Brent Rawls, as well as the aggravated assaults of Isaiah Scott and Glen Dancer. Linwood surrendered to authorities and was arrested by Dallas police, subsequently being charged with capital murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
In a related development, on April 14, 2016, detectives released a dash-cam image from a patrol officer who arrived at the scene of the March 22 murders. The image captured a dark-colored, single-cab, older model full-size pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet, leaving the scene. Detectives sought to identify the driver of this truck, considering him a possible witness in the case. They encouraged anyone with information to contact the Dallas Police Homicide Unit or Detective Richard Duggan.
The tragic death of 33-year-old Black male Casey Breedlove highlights the violent events that transpired in Dallas during that period. The swift identification and arrest of the suspect underscored the efforts of law enforcement to address such heinous crimes and bring those responsible to justice.
