Shermika Bolden, a 23-year-old African American woman from Nacogdoches, Texas, tragically lost her life on July 13, 2016. Bolden was found shot in the bedroom of the apartment, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nacogdoches Police Department was called to the apartment after Bolden reported that Chloe Love, a 22-year-old woman from Houston, had thrown a brick through the
front window of the residence and had been harassing her throughout the night.
Upon arrival, the police were met by Bolden's roommate, who informed them that Love had forced her way into the apartment and confronted Bolden in the bedroom with a handgun. The roommate fled the apartment and heard a gunshot as she was leaving. When the police entered the apartment, they found Love on the bedroom floor with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Love was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. The investigation revealed that Bolden had named Love as the suspect in the case, and the police continued to investigate the incident.
