Tyrell Smith, aged 24, was killed on April 18, 2012, in Oakland, California. He was shot while he was a passenger in a car in East Oakland, which was consistent with a rising trend in drive-by shootings across the city during that period. The shooting occurred at around 11:17 p.m., and no other individuals in the vehicle were injured. The circumstances surrounding the gunfire, including its source, remained unclear, and investigators were unable to immediately determine a motive.
