Donte Javon Samuels, a 22-year-old male resident of Killeen, Texas, tragically passed away on December 22, 2016. He was born on July 6, 1994, in Wood River, Illinois. Samuels was found deceased in the front yard of a home located in the 300 block of South 56th Street in Killeen.
Following his death, Killeen Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide. Tarah Ann Nichols was arrested in connection with the case.
Nichols was charged with tampering or fabricating evidence related to the murder investigation and was held on a half-million-dollar bond. The police also released a photo of a man believed to be involved in Samuels' death and sought information from the public to identify him.
The investigation revealed that Nichols had information pertinent to the murder, and she was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. Cooke ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. Additionally, a grand jury indicted two individuals for tampering with evidence, specifically dismantling security cameras that might have captured crucial evidence related to the murder.
The case remains under investigation, with Killeen Police continuing to seek information from the public to bring those responsible for Donte Samuels' death to justice.
