Alex Brookins, a 22-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Houston, Texas, was tragically shot and killed on February 16, 2017. He was walking home with his brother in the South Union area of Houston when at least two black men drove by and fired multiple shots at them near the corner of Yellowstone Boulevard and Milart Street. Alex was pronounced dead at the scene, and his brother was injured but survived.
The Houston Police Department Homicide Division launched an
investigation into the incident, but at the time, there was no known motive or suspects. The case was described as part of an "ongoing cycle of violence" in the neighborhood. In an effort to gather information and bring justice, Crime Stoppers offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for Alex's death.
Despite the investigation and reward, no arrests have been made in connection with Alex Brookins' murder. The case remains open, and the HPD continues to urge anyone with information to come forward. The community and Alex's family have been deeply affected by his loss, and they continue to seek answers and justice for his untimely death.
