Javier Flores, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on February 22, 2017, in Houston, TX. He was working at a Subway restaurant with his mother, Hilda Vazquez, when two armed robbers entered the establishment. In a selfless act of heroism, Flores jumped in front of his mother to shield her from the gunman, resulting in him being fatally shot in the neck. His courageous act has been widely recognized, and he is remembered as a hero by his family, friends, and community.
