In the early hours of a cold Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri, the life of Vernon Ray Carney Jr. was tragically cut short. On February 4, 2012, just four days after his 38th birthday, Carney was discovered inside a vehicle at the intersection of 57th and Troost.
