He was fatally shot and run over by his own vehicle in the parking lot of the Laundry Basket laundromat on Aquarena Springs Drive. The incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. when Kincaid was shot in the chest and then run over by a car driven by one of the suspects.
The suspects involved in Kincaid's death were identified as Kyle Randall Sample, a 19-year-old from Three
Rivers, Texas, and a 14-year-old juvenile accomplice. Nichole Marie Moore, a 38-year-old woman from Beeville, Texas, was also arrested and charged with endangering a child. The suspects were believed to have met Kincaid for a drug deal, which went wrong, leading to the shooting and subsequent running over of Kincaid.
Kyle Sample was later convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life without parole. The juvenile accomplice was also charged with capital murder. The case was investigated by the San Marcos Police Department, and the suspects were found and arrested early the next morning at a nearby motel.
