On the evening of October 23, 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of the Walnut Park West neighborhood in St. Louis, leaving a young man dead and a community searching for answers. The victim was identified as Cartrell Amos, a 19-year-old Black male. The incident, which also critically injured a 14-year-old boy, remains an unsolved homicide, a painful open wound for a family and a stark reminder of the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence.
