Jayla Riggs, a 15-year-old African American girl from Houston, Texas, tragically lost her life on December 30, 2017. The incident occurred at her home, where she was accidentally shot by a 17-year-old family member while playing a video game in the living room. The family member, who was handling a firearm, claimed he did not know the gun was loaded when it accidentally discharged, resulting in a single gunshot wound to Jayla's head.
